Through a combination of interactive presentation, real-world case studies, small team activities and expert coaching, you'll enhance your co-creation skills in real-time. You will tackle a live challenge, immediately applying co-creation principles and tools from the course to plan, design and run a collaborative working session.
This course fosters a collaborative environment where you will learn alongside fellow innovators and change-makers. Guest practitioners will share their insights and experiences from successful co-creation projects, providing valuable lessons from the field.

Objectives
At the completion of this course, participants will have learned:
- Why and when to use co-creation for problem-solving and innovation
- When and how to acknowledge issues of equity, power, and bias while co-creating
- How to frame a co-creation challenge and define success for your project
- Ways to include various types of stakeholders (customers, citizens, employees, colleagues, etc.) in a co-creation project
- How to plan, design and prepare for a co-creation working session
'Learning-by-Doing'
Online Format
We believe that experience is the best teacher. That is why our format for this course uses a hands-on, “learning-by-doing” method that fits perfectly with the iterative nature of the design process. You will connect with your instructors and fellow participants through Zoom and learn to use a set of innovation design tools using the virtual whiteboard application MURAL.
Program
Session 1: THEORY & APPLICATION, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, 1PM - 4PM EST
Co-Creation starts with people. You’ll meet your fellow course participants, become familiar with course technology, and learn co-creation theory and possible applications.
Session 2: DEFINING THE PURPOSE, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, 1 PM - 4 PM EST
Frame your co-creation challenge and desired outcomes while exploring how co-creation can result in more customer-centric and user-friendly solutions.
Session 3: PROJECT-LEVEL DESIGN, Thursday, November 14, 2024 1 PM - 4 PM EST
Engage stakeholders in an inclusive, collaborative project and scope out when, where and how you will incorporate co-creation and co-design in the process.
Session 4: SESSION-LEVEL DESIGN, Tuesday, November 19, 2024 1 PM - 4 PM EST
Design your co-creation sessions and choose activities that encourage your participants to empathize with stakeholders and build solutions that work across the organization or system.
Session 5: PREPARING FOR A SESSION, Wednesday, November 20, 2024 1 PM - 4 PM EST
Finalize your co-creation session agenda, prepare your facilitation team, and make a plan for developing co-creation deliverables that can drive implementation of your solutions.
Session 6: APPLICATION THROUGH PRACTICE, Thursday, November 21, 2024 1 PM - 4 PM EST
Practice facilitating a co-creation session with your fellow course participants, discuss tips for impactful facilitation, and apply course lessons to your own co-creation work.
Materials, Certification & Coaching
Participants will receive the following upon successful completion of the course:
- A course handbook including all templates and method instructions used in the course in both PDF and Mural formats
- A copy of course presentations and reference materials
- A certificate of course completion from reshift
- One hour of personal coaching with a course instructor after course completion

Bre currently leads Projekt (Polish for "Design") Consulting, Inc, partnering with institutions rooted in community empowerment and equitable change. Over the past 10 years, Bre has coached a global community of learners at Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school) at Stanford University and co-taught a myriad of courses offered by IDEO U. When they aren't doing the above, Bre chases sunsets and fails miserably at cooking.
