Challenge
Founded in 1907 as the Azar Nut Company, Mount Franklin Foods (MFF) is a longstanding ingredient supplier and provider of packaged nuts, snacks, and candies to the foodservice industry. But MFF had suffered years of losses and a revolving door of leadership by 2012. The management team sought initially to turn around the company, both financially and culturally, and then to develop and execute a sustainable growth strategy.
Approach
reshift's Change Management Facilitator, Heather Stagl, and the MFF Transformation Team developed a strategy map that uncovered several actionable key themes over the course of two workshops.
Next, smaller teams were assigned to clarify and execute on the key themes, while the team leaders received one-on-one coaching.
The joint Transformation Team met three times per year to report on progress and decide on next steps.
Outcome
MFF turned net income around in the course of 12 months through alignment, collaboration, and accountability.
After the initial success of our approach, the Transformation Team repeated the process three more times in the next 7 years, each time setting new growth goals and developing initiatives to achieve them.
Between 2012 and 2019, revenue doubled and net income grew by a factor of 9. The organization underwent a major expansion to meet demand and reached peak revenue in 2022.
